Our Courses: Diploma in Remedial Massage: Content

There are four components of the course which are taught on an interactive and mutually inter-dependent basis:

  • Applied anatomy of the musculo-skeletal system: bony surface landmarks and the origins, insertions, functions and actions of major muscles
  • Clinical assessment & treatment : postural assessments, passive, active and resisted assessment techniques; contra-indications and referrals; adapting treatment plans; evaluation of treatment.
  • Pathology of common injuries and musculo-skeletal conditions: acute and chronic conditions; prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and/or management of common musculo-skeletal conditions
  • Remedial techniques and soft tissue manipulations: including palpation and introduction to Neuromuscular Techniques, Muscle Energy Techniques, Soft Tissue Release, Trigger Point Release, Deep Tissue Release and Myofascial Release.

This course is assessed by continual assessment each tutorial, a portfolio of written work and end of course written and practical exams. Students are also required to produce case studies amounting to a minimum of 50 treatments.
