Our Courses: Sports Massage for Physiotherapists/Sports Medicine Doctors

As the only fully approved educational (SQA) and SMA/ISRM centre in Scotland we can offer a flexible way for medical professionals working in Sport, to build up credits to gain a full Diploma in Sports Massage. This will allow Level 4 membership of the SMA (currently the highest level available) and eligibility to join the Institute of Sport & Remedial Massage (ISRM). These are the main credential that Institutes of Sport, sporting Lead Bodies and elite teams are looking for, when employing the services of those who perform Sports Massage on their athletes.

The format of the award is as follows:

• Attendance at two or three 2-day workshops (depending on experience):

Basic skills; Events Massage; Advanced Techniques (1 credit each)

• Production of an Events Massage Log (1 credit)
• Documentation relating to Case Studies where the main focus of the treatment is on Sports Massage (1 credit)
• Portfolio of Sports Massage Theory Assignments (1 credit)
• Theory & Practical Examinations (2 credits)

The process usually commences with attendance at one of the workshops. Submission dates of the supporting work are negotiable. Payment is made for the credit being delivered and/or assessed.
